Our Company signed a sustainability alliance with Solidaridad Network!

We held the meeting “Alliances that create the future”, a space in which, together with Solidaridad -an international organization dedicated to fostering fairer and more sustainable supply chains-, we reaffirmed our commitment to sustainability, the generation of new opportunities and progress in our country.

Leaders from Solidaridad, Grupo Nutresa and our Company’s Procurement and Agricultural Development team participated in this space for connection, learning and networking.
With this alliance, we were able to benefit 22,000 cocoa-farming families in Colombia. This collaboration not only represents a strategic alliance, but also a concrete solution to climate change.

Asómbrate offers cocoa farming families the chance to generate additional income by selling carbon credits on Rabobank’s ACORN platform. Thus, it not only promotes environmental sustainability, but also contributes to improving the economic conditions of small producers.

Alejandro Gil Aguirre, Head of Procurement and Agricultural Promotion at Nacional de Chocolates, highlights the importance of this articulation: “We identified common objectives and challenges with Solidaridad, but also the chance to approach them from different perspectives. We are convinced that by working as a team we will be more efficient and have a greater impact.”

Juan Fernando Gutiérrez, Solidaridad’s Cocoa and Carbon Manager, emphasized, “Each cocoa farming family becomes an active part of the solution, contributing directly to the fight against climate change.”

He stressed that the essence of the collaboration is that this program constitutes real incentives for producers to transform their agricultural practices towards more sustainable methods. “Solidaridad’s support translates into technical assistance, training, and inputs for the successful implementation of agroforestry systems,” said Gutiérrez.

In this way we continue to give life to the initiatives that promote the development of solutions in the value chain in our country and we ratify our commitment to continue contributing to the growing generation of value for our stakeholders.
