Climate
Change

  • As a company, we are proud to have the first and biggest solar roof of any food company in Colombia, recognized by Corporación Autónoma Regional de las Cuencas de los Ríos Negro y Nare – Cornare.
  • Our factory in Rionegro is a pioneer in generating clean electrical energy as it uses over 8,000 solar panels. We have the biggest solar roof in Antioquia, preventing 604 tons of CO2 from being released, the equivalent of planting a 40-hectare forest every year.
  • Since 2010, we have achieved a cumulative reduction of 48% of the tons of CO2 emitted in Colombia.

Managing
Hydric Resources

  • We reduced our environmental impact on hydric resources through good practices, proposals, and improvements implemented by our collaborators, thus mitigating risks associated with the scarcity or deterioration of the quality of this resource.
  • Since 2010, we have achieved an accumulated reduction of 38% of the cubic meters of water used per ton produced in Colombia.
  • Installing reverse osmosis equipment in our cauldrons, additional to the water recirculation system that we already have, has allowed us important savings of energy and water in the production processes.
  • In 2012, we measured the water level we were using in our processes and committed ourselves to the reduction of our hydric footprint.

Energy

  • We implemented savers in our natural gas cauldrons, a project that allows important savings in energy and reduction of CO2 emissions generated by our processes.
  • Our factory in Rionegro has natural lighting equipment that captures sunlight and allows electric energy to be switched off most of the day.
  • Since 2010, we have reduced a total of 34.8% of the kWh per ton produced in Colombia.

Residue
Management

  • In 2017, our Organization launched the Policy for Reducing Loss and Waste of Foods, which seeks to reduce hunger in the regions where we work, contributing to the development and improvement of our processes, reducing waste, and increasing the productivity of the natural resources used.
  • Since 2010, we have managed to reduce by 37% the Kg of residues generated per ton produced, as well as reusing up to 94% of residues in our plants in Colombia.
  • In 2019 we joined the strategy “Ver de Vuelta” led by Grupo Nutresa, an initiative looking to make us all contribute bringing back the packing of our daily consumption products. This will give them a new and positive usage to protect the environment.
